SYNOPSIS:
Shi-Jie (Jay Chou) grows up in a martial arts school and he is well versed in kung-fu. With his skills and his good reflexes, Shi-Jie also excels in basketball, especially the slam dunk technique. On the pretext of helping Shi-Jie find his family, Wang-Li (Eric Tsang) invites him to join the university's basketball team in hopes of making money out of him. There Shi-Jie faces new challenges on the basketball team, especially with team mates Ting-Wei (Bo-Lin Chen) and Xiao-Lan (Baron Chen). With the upcoming championship games and the appearance of Li-Li (Charlene Choi), the team must put aside their differences and personal emotions to face their common rivals.

MOVIE TIDBITS: "Kung Fu Dunk" is adapted from Japanese cartoonist Takehiko Inoue's well known comic book "Slam Dunk". The comic strip has swept the world since its release in 1990. It's made astonishing worldwide sales of over 130 million copies. Hanamichi Sakuragi, one of the main characters in the book "Slam Dunk", was ranked NO.3 among the 10 Most Popular Comic heroes in Japan in 2006. Now the fictional basketball hero steps onto the big screen. Taiwan R&B singer Jay Chou takes the lead. |

In the movie version the character's named Shi-Jie. And he's a young man who has grown up at a Kung-Fu School. Shi-Jie applies his foundation Kung-Fu skills to the game of basketball and comes up with a unique approach to the hoop sport. The film actually is something of a departure from the comic strip that inspired it. According to the story-line revealed so far, the two leading roles in the book and the film only share one thing in common - both heroes begin as rookies at the beginning of the story. However, as Shi-Jie Jay Chou plays an accomplished practitioner of Kung-Fu, his mastery of Kung Fu helps catapult him to the top tier among basketball players.
