Synopsis: A young couple who choose stealing as their life. When they meet a young boy who brings his savings home and naively believes he lives in a world without thieves, they starts to protect him from a gang of ruthless thieves on a moving train
Karazen Review: Director Feng Xiaogang is an acclaimed director from China, with a string of lucrative blockbusters to his name, including "A Sigh" and "Big Shot's Funeral." His latest, A World Without Thieves is an idealistic motion picture mixing a commercial storyline with a superb cast including Hong Kong's Best Actor Winner Andy Lau, Taiwanese singer-actor Rene Liu, Mainland star Ge Yu, Hong Kong actor Gordon Lam, and athletic Mainland actress Li Bing Bing.
The
wonderful
thing was
this movie
was filmed
in China and
the
storyline
occurs on a
train ride.
Xiagang,
with such a
constrained
environment
did a great
job in
directing
and made a
movie that
is strong in
visual flair
and detailed
in character
development.
The two
leads, Andy
Lau and Rene
Liu' plays a
thievery
couple that
is torn
between good
and evil.
Their
chemistry
might be a
bit lacking
but their
portrayal
along with
the rest of
the cast and
Xiaogang's
directing,
makes this
movie rather
enjoyable.
Ultimately,
the film
delivers as
a strong
drama/love
story
combination.
A good movie
to own on
DVD.
