Once again, Gillian Chung and Stephen Fung collaborate in this suspense, ghost-thriller. They played siblings from “House of Fury” and now they are near-lovers in “49 Days”. You will recognize elements from M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Sixth Sense” in "49 Days". Overall, Gillian plays a cute lawyer and Stephen plays a good role as a loving father, husband and seeker of the truth. The beginning had a horror/thriller feel and it was a bit scary at some times, I had to admit. Also, there are parts where they explain details about how Chinese culture views ghosts and spirituality. It is informative because it touches upon subjects that many Chinese are not always so eager to speak about openly. This movie is great for Twins’ fans, horror-flick gurus, and if you want to be entertained but not expecting independent movie treatment.
