HITO Pop Music Awards Results

The awards ceremony for
"2006 HITO Pop Music Award" was held in Taipei
at the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Plaza. Jay Chou, who was
the "Hito Male Singer" last year, lost to LeeHom Wong by
a few votes (this year) because he released his album
late in the year. He lost his chance to win four times
in a row, but he got "most popular male singer by votes"
and five other awards. In addition, Vincent Fang's
lyrics for "Nocturne" got "HITO lyricist" thus making
him (Jay) the most victorious singer tonight.
The
little heavenly queen Jolin Tsai got "HITO Female
Singer" 3 times in a row and got 4 awards like LeeHom
Wong who is from the same company. This is the second
time these two individuals have each taken the biggest
male and female singer award together since the
Worldwide Chinese Music Ranking.
It was
an impressive sight to see Jay Chou, LeeHom Wong, Jolin
Tsai, JJ Lin, F.I.R, 5566, Rainie Yang, Cyndi Wang,
Angela Chang, etc all lined up on the stage. And the
rare sight of seeing Jay and Jolin appearing on the same
stage.
The popular group 5566 made
an impressive accomplishment last year and got "HITO
Male Group of the Year," "HITO Chinese Music of the
Year," etc awards. 183 Club from their company and 7
flowers got "HITO Soundtrack of the Year" with their
"Prince Turned into a Frog OST." Cyndi Wang from their
same company also got "HITO Chinese Music of the Year"
with the song "Honey."
HITO oversea singer of the year" award was taken by
Michael Wang (Guang Liang) from Malaysia; JJ Lin from
Singapore; and Twins from Hong Kong. Twin's first
Mandarin album was a hit in Taiwan and they also took
away the "Most Popular Female Group" award. Only Gillian
of Twins made it as Charlene was away. It was double the
pleasure as Twins won and also was Gillian’s birthday.
The "HITO Male and Female Newcomer" award was taken by Rainie Yang and sunshine boy Nicholas Teo.
