'The 19th Level of Hell', Gillian Chung, Vincy Chan




The blessing ceremony of new Mei Ah production film, "The Nineteenth Level of Hell' was held yesterday. The script of the film is based on a mystery/horror genre novel of the same name. The director, Lai Miu-Suet, along with the cast including Patrick Tam, Gillian Chung, Vincy Chan, and Shaun Tam, etc. were present at the blessing ceremony, which was held on the roof of a building. The media and the cast had to walk 8 flights of stairs to get there. Having this be her debut film, Vincy ran late for the ceremony because of needing to put on make up. To avoid missing the lucky hour, the others did not wait for her to burn the incense. Fortunately, she made it when the roasted pork was cut.

In this film, Gillian will be portraying a university student, with Vincy as her best friend and Patrick as her psychology teacher. She expressed, "My first scene was a crying scene, and I was required to carry the heavy camera to get it as a subjective shot. I heard that I am the first actress in HK to do a subjective shot." Gillian revealed that the camera was close to 20 pounds, and the shot was done with her lying down; she had needed help from the crew to pull her up afterwards. Earlier, the cast had all gone to see a hypnotist to practice hypnosis. Gillian expressed that she did not get the chance to be hypnotized, for she is afraid of the feeling of being controlled. Patrick Tam was also present at the hypnosis classes that they took. He expressed that perhaps it's because he is too used to acting that the hypnotist couldn't hypnotize him. He then joked that he really wants the chance to hypnotize Gillian and then ask if the surname of her boyfriend is 'Fong'. However, once this statement came out, everyone started teasing him of being 'outdated'!

Portraying a psychology teacher, Patrick is the major villain of the film. He puts his hypnotizing skills to a bad use and bring harm to others. This case then pulls in the two university students, Gillian and Vincy.

With Nicholas Tse becoming a father, Gillian expressed that she has not called him yet. She then joked that she'll wait until Nicholas calls her before she gives them a gift. Then would Gillian want to follow in Cecilia's footsteps and become a young mom? Gillian expressed that she is not married yet, but she did once dream that she was pregnant, and it was quite a happy dream!

First time filming, Vincy feels extremely nervous, and she is also a villain. She will die in a horrible way in the end. Then is Vincy not afraid that it will have an impact on her image? Vincy expressed that she has not thought about that, but she does feel that her character is very challenging. She has also gone to the hypnotist earlier, but perhaps it is because she wasn't lying down in a comfortable position, hence her hypnotizing session failed as well. Vincy added that once she learned hypnosis, she had also tried to use it on her mother; as a result, her mother had fallen asleep because it was extremely boring!
